Kajetan Kajetanowicz and Maciej Szczepaniak are competing in the 2019 Wales Rally GB, round twelve of the World Rally Championship. After yesterday’s opening special stage Kajetanowicz and Szczepaniak were classified in second position in the WRC-2 standings, behind the 2003 World Rally Champion, Petter Solberg.
The WRC-2 championship leaders contested an extremely demanding leg today, with over 115 competitive kilometres to cover. During this battle they suffered a couple of punctures, running out of spare tyres on board their car. This is why they were forced to retire and return under Rally2 system on Saturday.
– We want to be back tomorrow. I fight for something every day. This is not an easy time but I want to enjoy my driving and get to know this difficult and at the same time amazing rally
– said Kajetan Kajetanowicz, the LOTOS Rally Team driver.
The LOTOS Rally Team crew will return to action on Saturday morning.
The organisers have prepared a long, over 150-kms leg without service break between the loops. The crews will have to take care of their cars by themselves, without any assistance of the mechanics throughout the whole day. The day starts with Dyfi test (25.86 kms, at 9:06 CET), followed by Myherin (22.91 kms, at 11:08) and Sweet Lamb Hafren (25.65 kms, at 12:02). The second loop runs in a bit different order: Myherin (15:08), Sweet Lamb Hafren (16:02) and Dyfi (17:19). There is one more stage to finish the day: Colwyn Bay (2.4 kms, at 20:13).
