Kajetan Kajetanowicz and Maciej Szczepaniak were leading Rally Italia Sardegna until special stage number eight. They set top-three times on all seven previous tests, winning two of them. Unfortunately, the day ended in unlucky fashion. Wit less than two kilometres to go, the Polish crew slid off the road. There were no spectators on site. Kajetan and Maciej did their best to come back on the road but they were not able to push the car out of the ditch. What is important, Škoda Fabia Rally2 evo of the Polish duo was completely undamaged and the crew, holding second place in the championship, will return to action on Saturday, fighting for more valuable points.
– Unfortunately our day ended on the final stage, a few kilometres before finish line. We were leading the rally but the battle was very tight, so we had to push. Sometimes it happens in the sport. Our car is completely intact, we just slid off the road in a first-gear corner… We are sorry but tomorrow we will come back fighting. This sport is just like this – everything can change in a split-second. We knew it, we know it and we will remember about it in the future, but this is also the reason for which we love rallies. Thank you very much for being with us!
