Beautiful weather in Sardegna pleased huge crowd of fans who supported the competitors in round six of the 2024 World Rally Championship. For Kajetan Kajetanowicz and Maciej Szczepaniak the Italian WRC counter marked their second appearance this year. The Polish crew fought for a podium finish in their category right until the end, finishing the rally in fourth position.
The ORLEN Rally Team crew struggled at the beginning of the rally, taking wrong set-up decisions ahead of the opening leg on Friday. They chased down their rivals on Saturday, gaining eight positions after good and solid performance! During the final leg they fought until the finish line, claiming fourth place in the WRC2 Challenger standings – missing a podium position by just 3.9 seconds.
– Rally Italia Sardegna is already behind us. A lot of things happened, we went through a lot of ups and downs. In the end we missed a podium finish by less than four seconds, so it’s a pity. Again, I was sleeping through the opening loop on the final day, I didn’t want to risk too much without good feeling in the car – with settings which were too soft. Now I know a lot more. I need to analyse it properly, to avoid further mistakes in the next round. Of course these mistakes do happen, especially when you contest your second rally of the season. I think we should be pleased – in a field of around forty crews which started this event we are in fourth position in the WRC2 Challenger standings. It’s OK
