The ORLEN Rally Team crew finished the penultimate leg of Acropolis Rally in great style, winning a unique superspecial stage on a highway, around a motorway service area. Kajetan Kajetanowicz and Maciej Szczepaniak cope very well with demands of the rally of gods, regarded as one of the most difficult events in the WRC calendar. The Polish duo hold third position in the WRC2 Challenger standings ahead of the final day.
The afternoon loop of Acropolis Rally went very well for the Polish duo. Kajetanowicz and Szczepaniak set fifth-fastest times on two stages and they won the final test of the day. Thanks to good and efficient, they returned to third position in their category.
– It was a difficult day but we finish it with a stage win on a special test, very important for rallies. Maybe it took place a but too late, as this was a very demanding day for us. We spent almost 18 hours in the car but it was a pure pleasure to race here, in exciting and unique atmosphere created by huge crowd of fans
– Kajetan Kajetanowicz, the reigning WRC2 Challenger champion, said at the finish line of SS12.
As usual, Sunday is the shortest day of the rally. Two special stages await the competitors: SS13 Inohori (17.47 kms) and two runs of Eleftherohori (18.29 kms). The rally ends around 13:00 CET.
