Saturday, day two of Rally Chile, ended on a positive note for Kajetan Kajetanowicz and Maciej Szczepaniak. Thanks to error-free and fast pace, the Polish duo moved up into second position in the WRC2 Challenger category! The ORLEN Rally Team crew continue the competition in mature style, achieving positive results in extremely tough conditions.
The second loop of Saturday’s leg of Rally Chile brought even more drama and action than expected. It started to rain and thick fog appeared on the stages. Many experienced drivers stressed that those special stages were among the most difficult ones in their careers. Kajetan Kajetanowicz and Maciej Szczepaniak have competed in these conditions for years and the ORLEN Rally Team duo used their experience to great effect, driving fast and without mistakes. They moved up into second position in the WRC2 Challenger standings.
– The second loop of Saturday’s leg of Rally Chile was incredible in every respect. We thought that it would be dry, that the road will dry out after earlier showers. Quite the opposite: we encountered thick fog and wet stages. I have not seen such fog for a long time and we had to compete in these conditions, with visibility limited to twenty or even fifteen metres – it does not happen very often, even here, in Chile. Tyre wear was not a problem, as it was slippery like hell. In those conditions, basically with zero visibility, we moved up into second position in the WRC2 Challenger standings. We have fantastic atmosphere here. Last year there were plenty of supporters but now it really exceeds any expectations. Many fans go to the stages – in freezing conditions, winter has just ended here – and they hold their flags in fog and rain, cheering us to fight
– Kajetan Kajetanowicz, the reigning WRC2 Challenger champion, said after Saturday.
There is a pair of stages, each of them run twice, on the final day of Rally Chile: SS13/15 Laraquete (18.62 kms, start at 13:32 and 15:35 CET) and SS14/16 Bio Bio (8,78 kms, at 14:35 and 18:15 CET). The competition ends around 19:00 CET.
Starts of Kajetan Kajetanowicz are supported by the title partner of the ORLEN Rally Team – ORLEN S.A., as well as technical partner Delphi, Pirelli, ORLEN OIL, ATC CARGO S.A. and SJS S.A.
