Kajetan Kajetanowicz and Maciej Szczepaniak will compete not once but twice in South America. After Rally Paraguay, they will move to Chile and take part in the next round of the 2025 World Rally Championship season, which is entering its final phase.
The crews competing in the 2025 World Rally Championship are entering the final third of the season. Five rounds remain: three gravel and two tarmac rallies. However, Kajetanowicz and Szczepaniak, fighting for laurels in the WRC2 Challenger category, are allowed to participate in seven events per season, according to the regulations. They have already completed four rallies, finishing each one in points-paying position. Second place in Sardinia and commanding victory in Greece confirmed their place among the top crews in their category.
The ORLEN Rally Team duo face an intense end of the summer. Third-placed crew in the current WRC2 Challenger standings have already announced their participation in Rally Paraguay (28-31 August), a new addition to the WRC calendar. Now they have also confirmed their outing in the next South American round of the championship, held on the western coast of the continent.
Chile hosted the top drivers of the world for the first time in 2019. Political turmoil and the coronavirus pandemic resulted in cancellation of two subsequent editions of the rally, but it has returned to the schedule in 2023 and remains there to this day. Kajetanowicz and Szczepaniak will tackle this very popular event for the third time. After an unlucky outing two years ago, last season the ORLEN Rally Team crew claimed a strong second position in the WRC2 Challenger in Chile, which greatly contributed to their sixth consecutive top-three finish in the World Rally Championship final standings.
The season is entering its crucial phase and we are facing a very intense period. We have already announced our participation in Rally Paraguay, this year’s novelty in the World Rally Championship calendar and a grand journey into the unknown – but our challenge in South America will be twofold. We will also compete in Chile. We are already familiar with this WRC round, having competed twice there. Last year we claimed second place in the WRC2 Challenger category, so our most recent memories are quite nice. It is a beautiful but very difficult and incredibly diverse rally. Each stage features different road characteristics, all of which share one thing in common – they destroy tyres quickly. All of this is complemented by fantastic atmosphere created by passionate fans. Keep your fingers crossed for our performance in South America
– Kajetan Kajetanowicz, third-placed driver in the current WRC2 Challenger standings, said ahead of the rally.
Rally Chile takes place on 11-14 September. The route is almost 1240 kilometres long, with almost 307 kilometres of special stages divided into sixteen special stages. The event is based in Concepción, the capital city of the Biobío region.
Starts of Kajetan Kajetanowicz are supported by the title partner of the ORLEN Rally Team – ORLEN S.A., as well as technical partner Delphi and ORLEN OIL.
