High average speeds, changeable grip and fog which appeared and disappeared – such were the conditions during the first loop of Rally Chile, completed by Kajetan Kajetanowicz and Maciej Szczepaniak in a respectable third place in the WRC2 Challenger classification.
The competition round eleven of the 2025 World Rally Championship season started in the early afternoon, European time. The crews completed three special stages: Pulpería (19.72 kms), Rere (13.34 kms) and San Rosendo (23.32 kms). Each test, relatively narrow and full of traps, posed a considerable challenge for the competitors. During interviews at the finish line the drivers repeatedly pointed at surprising grip changes and the fog, lingering in some places.
Kajetanowicz and Szczepaniak started cautiously, checking the conditions, and began the competition with fifth-fastest time in the WRC2 Challenger category. They picked up the pace on two following special stages, recording top three times and claiming third position for the ORLEN Rally Team after the opening morning.
We have competed in Rally Chile twice before and every time we could not say much about one of the stages. Whether we were driving it during the rally or during recce, we always ran into fog at the top of one of the mountains. Personally I have never seen this test without fog. It was there again this morning but overall, visibility was not that bad. The first loop was not the easiest for us. Not everything is perfect but we are doing our job. We are in third place in the WRC2 Challenger category. It’s not the peak of our dreams. Of course we will try to improve as much as possible
– said Kajetan Kajetanowicz, triple European Rally Champion.
After the service break, the crews will start the second loop – repeating the same set of three special stages. They face another portion of almost sixty competitive kilometres to cover and the day will come to an end around midnight.
Starts of Kajetan Kajetanowicz are supported by the title partner of the ORLEN Rally Team – ORLEN S.A., as well as technical partner Delphi and ORLEN OIL.ytularny ORLEN Rally Team – ORLEN S.A., a także partner techniczny Delphi oraz ORLEN OIL.
