ADAC Rallye Deutschland: good pace of Kajetanowicz and Szczepaniak in the shakedown

Shakedown ahead of round nine of the World Rally Championship, ADAC Rallye Deutschland, took place on 5.52-kms St. Wendeler Land test. Weather conditions were fine for competitors and spectators alike, with plenty of fans cheering for their heroes in bright sunshine. Kajetan Kajetanowicz and Maciej Szczepaniak fine-tuned their car, setting stage times among the frontrunners in WRC-2 category!

The LOTOS Rally Team crew started with very good fifth-fastest time on their first shakedown run, trailing the German driver Fabian Kreim by just 1.9 seconds. On another run they went seventh-fastest and recorded fourth time on their third run. Overall the Polish duo were classified in eight place, only 0.8 seconds behind the top three – completed by factory drivers of Skoda and Ford.

– We have finished the shakedown ahead of Rallye Deutschland, on which we checked the set-up of our car. The roads are very narrow, so precision and good feeling are very important. I think that in this sense everything is fine. Our plan is to drive as fast as we are able in given conditions. Of course we are not going to tilt at windmills – this is not possible when you are here for the first time. However, I have a good feeling of the car, which works perfectly, so we will just do our job. There are plenty of spectators here, the atmosphere is cool. This event is very popular among Polish fans, our supporters come to Germany in great numbers. They do not disturb us – quite the opposite, they help us a lot! The most important thing is to stay focused, I want to enjoy my driving and follow my plan consistently

– says European Rally Champion, Kajetan Kajetanowicz.

The opening special stage takes place this evening. The 2.04-kms Super Special Stage St. Wendel starts at 19:08 CET. Tomorrow the competitors will tackle six stages with combined length of over 100 kilometres. The day consists of two runs of Stein und Wein (19.44 kms; 10:11 and 15:39 CET), Mittelmosel (22.00 kms; 11:05 and 16:33 CET) and Wadern-Weiskirchen (9.27 kms; 12:53 and 18:21 CET).
