For sure they do not lack motivation. Kajetan Kajetanowicz and Maciej Szczepaniak, currently in second position in the WRC-3 standings, begin the competition in Rally Estonia. This is fourth start of the LOTOS Rally Team crew in the 2021 World Rally Championship – and they have already scored two rally wins. The fastest event in the whole calendar begins on Thursday evening and the competitors face 24 special stages, with total length of over 314 competitive kilometres.
Kajetanowicz takes part in Rally Estonia for fourth time in his career. In 2015 and 2016 he scored two podium finishes here, fighting for the European Rally Championship titles. Last year he showed brilliant pace, battling for another top-three finish right until the end. Unfortunately, a roll on the final stage robbed him of hopes for more success. Now he is back, to set the record straight.
– We begin another gravel rally, but this one is completely different to previous events. It is very fast, with plenty of crests – which become jumps at high speed and we fly really high there. This is the real DNA of rally driving, both for competitors and spectators. We are prepared very well, just like ahead of every rally. The LOTOS Rally Team did an excellent job during pre-event testing and we are ready to fight, but in rallies you just cannot be over-confident. This sport can humble you very quickly. We gain confidence during testing but even afterwards some questions may arise and we need to search for answers. I also love this aspect of our sport. We never know what is waiting around the corner but for sure we will do our best. As always
– says Kajetan Kajetanowicz, the LOTOS Rally Team driver.
The rally fever starts as usual in Thursday, with shakedown runs and a short, 2-kms Tartu test in the evening. Proper racing begins on Friday, with gravel stages requiring extraordinary courage – and two runs of Arula (12.66 kms), Otepää (18.25 kms), Kanepi (16.51 kms) and Kambja (17.85 kms) tests.
Starts of Kajetan Kajetanowicz are supported by strategic partner of the LOTOS Rally Team – Grupa LOTOS – as well as Delphi Technologies, Pirelli, SJS Driving Experience and Grupa Sikora.
