Halfway through Rally Chile, Kajetan Kajetanowicz and Maciej Szczepaniak have completed another good loop, setting top three times in the WRC2 Challenger classification. The ORLEN Rally Team crew managed to avoid major problems and extended their advantage over fourth-placed duo.
Today’s leg of Rally Chile is the longest of the whole event, with almost 140 kilometres of special stages. Rough surface is challenging for tyres which wear out quickly – moreover, it started to rain on the third test. Kajetanowicz and Szczepaniak avoided problems, setting second-fastest and two third-fastest stage times in the WRC2 Challenger standings.
– The first loop of Saturday’s leg is already behind us. We are still in the game, fighting for a top three finish. Right now we hold third position in the WRC2 Challenger standings. I am happy because today’s special stages are completely different and I have good feeling. We tried a different tyre choice and in some sections it was definitely better – although in few places it was tougher. However, the most important thing is that my feeling remains good, I am driving without mistakes and too much risk – but reasonably fast all the time, so everything goes according to our plan
– commented Kajetan Kajetanowicz, the ORLEN Rally Team driver.
The second loop on Saturday consists of the same set of three special stages. Pelun 2 test (15.65 kms) starts at 20:07 CET. Afterwards the crews will tackle Lota 2 (25.64 kms, at 21:01 CET) and the longest stage of the rally, Maria las Cruces (28.31 kms, at 22:05 CET).
Starts of Kajetan Kajetanowicz are supported by the title partner of the ORLEN Rally Team – ORLEN S.A., as well as technical partner Delphi, Pirelli, ORLEN OIL, ATC CARGO S.A. and SJS S.A.
