The crews competing in the 82nd Rally Poland have completed the opening loop of Saturday’s special stages. Kajetan Kajetanowicz and Maciej Szczepaniak, representing the ORLEN Rally Team, hold eighth position in the FIA European Rally Championship standings at midday.
After yesterday’s exciting but short show in downtown Katowice, the crews set off in the morning for the special stages located in the southern part of the Silesian region. Three special stages were scheduled – Jastrzębie Zdrój (17.05 kms), Ochaby (11.20 kms) and Gmina Jasienica (19 kms). However, the middle stage of this loop was cancelled for most competitors after an accident involving one of the crews running at the front of the field.
Kajetanowicz and Szczepaniak started Saturday’s leg calmly, completing the opening stage with tenth-fastest time. They finished the loop with eighth-fastest result and hold the same position in the overall FIA ERC standings. The goal for the second loop is to improve the car set-up and reduce the gap to the leaders.
We have completed the first, and as it turns out, shortened loop. I hope everything will be OK with the crew which crashed out in front of us. We are looking for a better feeling. Nineteen seconds’ gap to the leaders is not a disaster but for sure we will definitely try to find something that will help me feel even better in the car and fight, because it is really tight

After a short service break, the crews will return to the same stages which were already contested in the morning. However, the loop will be extended by a superspecial stage scheduled for this evening, around the Silesian Stadium. The Saturday’s leg will finish around 21:00 CET.
